Screen shot of NASA web siteIf you’re interested in a real -- not virtual -- journey to the stars, you can keep your dream alive by logging onto the NASA Web site on interstellar travel and advanced propulsion systems. You’ll learn some of the enormous difficulties involved in taking such a trip, including the fact that our nearest neighboring star is 4.3 light years away. At 55 miles per hour, the trip would take more than 50 million years! While the engineers on the television show Star Trek have designed a warp drive to solve that problem, NASA scientists are still working on it.
