Galileo Skims Io

The Galileo spacecraft’s hair-raising, suspenseful flyby of Jupiter’s moon Io produced the closet-ever image of this tiny orb’s surface. You can view the image of a lava field near the center of an erupting volcano and other spectacular pictures snapped by the NASA spacecraft at the official mission Web site.
