It's a Bug's War Devoted to exploring the role insects and disease have played in the sweep of human history, this Web site's most dramatic section highlights the U.S. Civil War. Based on an article in American Entomologist, it includes snippets of letters and memoirs from soldiers who refer to insects as they describe camps, hospitals, battlefields, and rations. Vintage pictures add to the atmosphere. Another section features the role of insects in Napoleon's campaigns. Probably not for the squeamish.
