Livestock are developing a largely unrecognized biodiversity crisis

Girentana, or Corkscrew Goat. Found on just one Mediterranean island today, this goat may number only 50 today. Though a prolific breeder and good producer of milk, this breed has been falling from favor because it is poorly adapted to the intensive agriculture now overtaking the local economy. SAVE is in the process of launching an emergency program to rescue these goats.
