ALT BEES. The small native bee Osmia aglaia could work as an alternative pollinator of red raspberries and blackberries in the Pacific Northwest, according to recent tests. A relative, the blue orchard bee (Osmia lignaria), readily moves into holes in nesting blocks (upper right) and does a good job pollinating tree fruits such as cherries. Credit: S.
