Capturing light

To make more efficient use of expensive solar cells, fluorescent dyes on a glass can collect solar energy and concentrate it onto long, thin solar cells at the glass’s edges. Here, two glass layers have dyes for capturing photons of different colors — high-energy, blue wavelengths in the top layer, and lower-energy, orange wavelengths in the bottom one.
