Thirty-five years after they were launched, the Voyager probes are nearing the edge the solar system. The probes have already passed a shock wave where the solar wind drops below supersonic speeds (dark blue) and have been making their way through a region where the solar wind slows down and warms up (gray). Next up is interstellar space (orange).
