  • Is the mechanical equipment wrapped in insulation? The images appear cooler than the roof surface. Even accounting for reflected temperatures, the thermal loading of metal should show the mechanical units at significantly higher temps.

  • The pipes should be because they would be water or something that is under pressure, and the other things are probably air ducts for air conditioning.
