Gelotophobia around the globe
View Larger Version | An international team surveyed more than 20,000 people from 73 countries to find out whether gelotophobia exists in different cultures and to determine its relative prevalence. All participants were asked to rate their agreement with 15 statements designed to gauge the level of fear associated with different social situations. Ten of these statements are shown here. Results show a score related to how intensely participants agreed with each statement; higher scores indicate greater fear.
