A lot of us teach ourselves how to reason, how to think, how to analyze new information....This has been very difficult for robots to be able to do.

  • Well, humans are positively reluctant to put major, final and especially mortal decisions in the hands of machines, and with good reason. Humans are, however, glad to welome robots to the world of repetitive labor, whether physical or intellectual.

That is why robots are not used very deeply in medical decisions, although automatic machinery is very good at processing data into forms which are more revealing to the human making the final decision.

Thankfully, mortal and potentially life-determining or potentially lethal decisions are relatively few compared with the extremely numerous control and calculation decisions. So the robots are extremely valuable anyway, and that includes the promise of robot car drivers which will have to meet very high standards.
