Every corner of the planet is now feeling the effects of climate change, according to the second of three segments of the fifth Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, released March 31.

The latest installment, which focuses on the impacts, adaptations and vulnerabilities linked to climate change, also says that the world is largely unprepared for the changes underway. Many poor populations around the world are particularly vulnerable to the effects, such as sea level rise and food shortages. Violent conflicts over resources are also a concern for the future.

The IPCC is expected to release its last segment, focusing on strategies to lessen climate change impacts, in April.
