Kennewick Man Skeleton

MARINE MAN  New chemical analyses of Kennewick Man’s left shin bone (the larger bone in his lower left leg) indicate that this ancient resident of the Pacific Northwest almost exclusively ate seafood.

Little Foot Fossil

OLD SOUTH  Researchers have dated Little Foot, a South African fossil skeleton that includes this skull, to 3.67 million years ago. If the new age holds up, it makes Little Foot the oldest known hominid in that part of Africa.

Stone tool in Greece

ROCK OF AGES  A stone tool pokes out of sediment where it was recovered at Greece’s Kokkinopilos site. Also shown in the inset, this artifact comes from soil that dates to about 206,000 years ago, a new study finds.
