Physicists find atomic nucleus with a ‘bubble’ in the middle
Silicon-34’s core has proton shortage in its center

BUBBLING UP Scientists have found bubbles in a medium very different from these oxygen bubbles — an atomic nucleus. The researchers found that silicon-34 has a “bubble nucleus” with few protons in its center.
