Megan Hodge’s first bout of intense pain arrived when she was in her mid-20s. Hodge and her husband were getting ready to visit family for Thanksgiving. Hodge began packing. As she reached into her closet to grab a sweater, her back gave out. The pain was excruciating, so intense that she felt light-headed and thought she might vomit.
