A new cholesterol-lowering pill shows promise in clinical trials
The drug sharply reduced low-density lipoprotein, or LDL, cholesterol levels
A nurse draws blood from a child to test for familial hypercholesterolemia, an inherited disorder in which the body’s cholesterol processing system doesn’t function properly, leading to high levels and health risks. A phase 3 clinical trial in adults with the disorder found that the drug enlicitide brought cholesterol levels down.
