Pluto’s pits, ridges and famous plain get official names

LOTS OF LOVE  Pluto’s iconic heart, which scientists informally named after the Soviet spacecraft Sputnik, is now officially Sputnik Planitia. This image was taken about 16 hours before the New Horizons spacecraft’s closest encounter with Pluto in July 2015.
